Solar water desalination and purification

Solar desalination - the advantages

Clear Water Solutions desalination cells are made of innovativ, state of the art materials, resistant enough to even handle sea water for a long time. The surface of one CC A-1 cell is 2m2 and it produces 12– 18 litres of fresh drinking water per day in the yearly cut.

All that is needed is sun and a raw water source. It can be tap water, well water, or water from rivers, lakes, the sea or even waste water. The delivered product after treatment will always be pure distilled water of very high quality.

How does solar desalination and purification work?

Like the emergence of rain, water is heated in the cell by the sun; a part of it evaporates, rises up and condenses on the cooler glass cover. It flows along the glass and over a separate channel into the distilled-water collector. This process of distillation separates and removes virtually all bacteria, viruses, heavy metals and other organic and inorganic contaminants. Heat and UV-rays disinfect even the impurities that are left behind on the absorber fleece and get washed out automatically with the brine.

Advantages:

  • The whole process does not need any other source of energy than the sun.
  • No filters to be exchanged.
  • No moving parts inside the cells.
  • No chemicals needed.
  • Maintenance free running. Just make sure there is always enough raw water.
  • Very little water consumption, one cell needs about 40 litres of raw water per day to produce 12– 18 litres of clean and healthy drinking water.
  • The cells can be used for waste water concentration and production of process water in industrial applications.
  • The production, mounting and servicing can be done in the country where the units are needed. This provides income for locals.
